An Explosively Incredible Last-Minute Wicked Faire Update
by your humble serpent, Jeff Mach
…and Wicked Faire 2010, the greatest Wicked Faire to date, draws nigh! And holy galloping invisible green multilevitational updates, do we have news for you!
I’ll tell you the BIG secret first: some of Wicked’s best-known guests including Voltaire, Daniel Greenwolf, Donna Lynch and David Lawrence have agreed to participate in a ridiculously spectacular and unique charity competition at Wicked Faire! Details are below!
1. We have extended advance ticket sales one more day to Saturday, February 13th – ending at five p.m. That’s it; afterwards, tickets will be available at the door at full-price. No amount of begging will change this.
2. If you have a hotel room at Wicked Faire, please please please PLEASE please please email wickedhotel@gmail.com and let ‘em know if you’d prefer we try to put you on a louder or quieter floor (or even if you don’t care which, because that will REALLY help!) We can’t guarantee that we can accommodate you, or that your floor will be totally quiet if it’s a quiet floor…. but if we don’t get more info, we can’t place anybody. We need to know.
Pssst! Hey! Wicked Faire needs your help, and will reward you for it! – visit our Help Wicked page for more details.
And now… we proudly announce…
PROJECT MUNCHAUSEN
There exists in this world a thing called The Extraordinary Adventures of Baron Munchausen, which is a graceful and brilliant storytelling competition. We’ve been playing it at Jeff Mach’s Big Brass Ball for the past few months, and in a nutshell, it’s amazing: it really seems to fill the participants’ minds with odd and unusual and beautiful and funny ideas, which pretty much explode forth onto the table as they battle for wild tale-spinning supremacy.
And as a charity benefit to aid and assist our friends over at the Summer Program for Academic Reach and Creativity–a summer program for gifted and sometimes unusual kids–some of our best-known guests have agreed to come together and play it for charity. So far, those guests include:
And very possibly…
Admission is free and included with your Wicked Faire admission (however, since space is limited, priority will be given to people who purchase votes, simply because we can’t fit too many people in the room). You can vote on whose story you like best; you can buy votes at the event, with a $2 donation to SPARC.
We’ve created a Facebook event to judge response and see if we need to try to find a bigger room, feel free to RSVP here if you want to be counted!
The game was brought to our attention and pioneered for us by The Pointy Eared Artisan, who is a starving college student who needs your help. If we’re lucky, he’ll also be the game moderator; we’re working on it.
If you want to help out the Wicked Faire; if you like this project and want to see us do more like it; if you’re simply a kind soul who wants to help… go forth and spread the word! We have literally only a few more days to tell the world about all this!! Tell your friends:
Wicked Faire last-minute news: they’ve extended advance ticket sales to the 13th… AND announced a charity event at the Faire, a battle royale between Voltaire, Daniel Greenwolf, David Lawrence, and others, called “The Munchausen Project”. Check it out at www.wickedfaire.com/2010/surgeofupdates!
