The tale behind the Totally Normal Event is a long one.
But we've sliced it into five very small pieces for you. Because we love you.
Five Pieces Of Legend:
1. All myths are true.
All myths. Including those which contradict each other. Especially those which contradict each other. Otherwise, if there were really a simple, clear, easy-to-understand explanation behind the world - then anyone could figure it out.
It's not a question of who really built Stonehenge. Very definite ecords from a hundred vanished civilizations, space aliens, and travellers through speed and time, make it clear that the real question is, who didn't build Stonehenge?
How is that possible?
Damned if we know. We didn't build the Universe.
2. Why don't the powerful rule?
If it's true that the world is actually many Worlds, and "ordinary" humans co-exist with beings whose powers and abilities and magic and/or science may be far beyond that of what is known in the "ordinary" world - why don't those beings rule?
It's a long story. But the short version:
In millenia of coexistance, the supra-natural of the world(s) slowly divided along philosophical lines into loose Tribes, based on personal predilictions. They then engaged in many battles to rule the world, or secretly influence it, or perhaps even destroy it.
And they discovered two things:
(a) The more powerful some of them get, the more the rest of them want to grab that power. Which, after several thousand years, gets really old.
(b) If you have to compare them, throwing incredible parties beats suffering ignominous defeat seven times out of ten.
3. Is this the full history?
The full history actually takes up eleven thousand volumes of the Encyclopedia Intereverythingia.
But since the Encylopedia is also mythical, it's okay.
4. Who are the Tribes?
Loosely:
~The Mad Scientists. Reckless. Inspired! Pushing the limits of the physical world.
~The Evil Overlords. Intent on the quest for power! Advantage! Dinner!
~The Hedonists. Out to have a good time, dammit.
~The Talesenders. Harnessing the power of story.
5. What do the tribes have to do with me?
The Tribes are vying to throw the best possible parties! They will be out to show you a good time!
...and if you feel any tribe pull to you... go with it. Dress for your favorite Tribe. Help them throw parties. Go to their events.
