2007 General FAQs

What makes it "wicked"? Is this a pirate faire? Is this a Renaissance faire? Can I wear anime/scifi garb? Will the ninjas battle the pirates? Will there be gaming? Is this a scifi con? Is this a gothic event?

What's your weapon policy? Why should I pre-reg for food/admission? Are cameras permitted? Is re-entry permitted? How can I help?

1. What makes it "wicked"?

Being a no-kids event gives us a lot of freedom. We're often asked if we're a sex event; we are not. Most of us are quite fond of sex, but we do tend to save that 'til after the Faire's ended for the day. Our goal is to simply have fun without the worries you'd have in the company of children (or worried parents); we can have adult themes, sing dirty songs with all the lyrics, have our actors curse, let people sell art and toys you can't find at a normal Faire or other all-ages event.

2. Is this a pirate faire?

Yes! No!

It's a Pirate faire...with a twist or two. You are welcome to come as a pirate, with or without a twist or two.

3. Is this a Renaissance faire?

Yes!

With additional goodies.

We like to think of it as "a Renaissance Faire...with benefits."

4. Can I wear anime/scifi garb?

Sure! Long as it's beach-friendly (that would be regular US non-nude beach)--feel free!

5. Will the ninjas battle the pirates?

Yes. Oh, yes.

6. Will there be gaming?

Yes! There isn't a lot of organized tabletop gaming, but we do have a LARP; email Jeff for details.

7. Is this a scifi con?

Does it have a specifically-scifi-only focus? No. But if you like scifi cons, you will very probably have a great time here.

8. Is this a gothic event?

Depends. If you think that an event can be gothic ONLY if it's "just gothic", then no. Otherwise, we are as gothic as Bella Lugosi in a corset. (Don't laugh. When I picture it, I think he could -totally- pull that off.)

Practical FAQs

9. What's your weapon policy?

Period weapons are fine, if peace-bound. Gun-type weapons that are even VAGUELY realistic are, sadly, prohibited by Jersey law. If your weapon isn't about as abstract as Riff-Raff's laser in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show", the authorities might be unhappy with it.

10. Why should I pre-reg for food/admission?

(a) Because you will save money and make sure that you don't get left out if we sell-out, which, particularly in the case of food, we might.

(b) It helps us a LOT in judging how to best prepare for the event, and thus help you have a good time.

(c) It makes us smile.

New! 11. Are cameras permitted?

Ah! Good questions both!

Digital is cool, video is cool--unless any individual performers mind and such, but I doubt anyone will.
